You’ve probably heard the classic tip: set out your clothes the night before.

It’s not really about clothes, it’s about removing barriers to getting into useful action.

When you prep in advance, you make it easier for your future self to get started. Think of it like rolling out a welcome mat for tomorrow’s task:

  • Lay out breakfast items so the morning feels smoother.

  • Stack the paperwork you’ll need for that appointment.

  • Gather the tools for your project so they’re ready to grab.

You can even make a short list of the few things that can’t be prepped ahead, so when the time comes, you’re not scrambling, you’re starting.

Preparation isn’t about doing more work. It’s about designing your environment so the hard thing feels lighter.

What could you “set out the night before” for your next big task?
